- Rolls:
- 1 1/8 cup hot water
- ¼ cup vegetable oil
- 1 egg
- 1 Tablespoon yeast
- ¼ cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 3 cups flour
- Filling:
- 2 Tablespoons orange rind
- ½ cup sugar
- 1-2 Tablespoons melted butter (DO NOT MIX WITH SUGAR AND ORANGE, this is to be spread on the dough to make it stick!)
- 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 2 Tablespoons milk
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
Add all ingredients in the order listed.
Add flour until the dough cleans the sides and bottom of bowl.
Knead dough in mixer 4 minutes. Let dough rest for 15 minutes.
In a separate bowl combine filling ingredients (orange rind and sugar). Set aside.
Remove dough from bowl. Roll out dough into a rectangle.
Brush melted butter (from filling section) onto dough, sprinkle orange rind mixture on dough.
Roll filled rectangle up from the long sides. Cut into 12 spirals.
Place in greased 13x9 pan (a cookie sheet if you are making crescents), 3 across.
Put into oven, let rise until doubled, about 15 minutes.
Increase the oven temperature to 350 degrees and bake for 20-30 minutes.
In a small bowl, combine glaze ingredients.
Stir until smooth; add more milk is desired.
Let stand for 5 minutes to thicken (when topping warm foods, let the foods cool slightly so it doesn’t run off).
Spoon/Pour over confection.
SERVES: 12
NOTES:
